The short answer is no.
However the long answer cannot deny some spirituality (not religion persay) to the concept.
In speaking with friends and family about my findings, many say this awakening sounds like a religious experience. Although I have never experienced it, I can see many similarities to being “born again.” I literally feel like a child facing an entirely new world. However I can assure you all, I came to these conclusions using methodical scientific approaches.
To give you all some background I was raised Roman Catholic, but fell away from the church around the time I turned 21 to pursue science and logic. My experiences allowed me to understand just about everything that ran on electricity, fuel or work in any chemical reactions. I loved physics and studying the universe, but was absolutely mystified by human behavior. I received a Bachelors in Communications from the University of Florida studying advertising and consumer behavior and then went on to get my Masters of Business Administration at the same school and I fell in love with economics and behavioral management.
In that same time, I built custom cars and motorcycles from scratch then went on to become a aircraft equipment and diesel generator specialist in the US Air Force. From there I went on to repairing air conditioners in sunny Ft. Lauderdale and later after college I went into graphic design and then to web development and computer networking. I shortly managed a technology shop, but after earning my MBA started business consulting in my own. Since then I have started a full fledge product development company working on bringing people’s dreams to life.
I did just about all the above in less then 10 years and I hope it proves to you that I am not only well rounded in my education but also a extremely fast learner.
I pride myself as being a detailed researcher and use an unorthodox approach that has yielded me excellent results. I come up with a theory and then try to argue it away with my findings. What I have learned here I cannot argue away.
I, like many others, turned to religion to fill the gaps that science left…but the two never seemed to fit. I would read how religion was basically shaped by history over the course of the years and who knows what the original message was after being rewritten and translated so many times….The Word of God (interpreted by mortals). There are undisputable facts that Jesus was a real person, but who was he and what did he do to get so many people’s attention? Who knows?
Then an old lesson that I learned while briefly pursuing an electrical engineering degree brought in some light. I got fed up with the arrogance of engineers since they considered all their designs to be perfect. There was never any questioning them why they decided to put something in a particular place. Later this experience proved incredible, because believing the engineer was right always allowed me to troubleshoot and repair any problem very quickly. See parts don’t break on their own. Something causes them to break. Usually it was something the engineer did not plan for…like dirt, heat, humidity or as we lovingly refer to as “operator error.”
In this I began to think, what if “God” were an engineer…and everything was designed to work perfectly but some outside force was causing it to not act the way it was supposed to. This I found a lot of evidence for. It is absolutely mind boggling to see the perfection and intricate designs in snow flakes. There are also mathematical similarities in just about everything on this earth. The number “phi” is sometimes referred to God’s Ratio. Every part of our bodies is in direct proportion to this number. My favorite example is the spirals in every snail shell follow this proportion. Most memorable art and architecture also follows this design.
Faced with this inexcusable evidence, I thought… well, is science wrong and religion right? Or is it more plausible to believe that each is a little right? In that case which religion is right? Or again maybe all religions have something to add?
That’s when it dawned on me that you only see what you believe.
Religion usually forms the basis for many people core belief structure. Scientist are taught to look for physical evidence and believe only what you can see and prove. Both are screaming at each other when both are actually right. There are physical changes that take place in our environment, but they are caused by some kind of spiritual means. The spiritual means are our thoughts and intentions.
When we believe and think of positive uplifting thoughts, they have a tremendous affect on our reality. They actually make physical changes in our brain and organs. I studied miraculous healings, and one of my favorite examples is Lance Armstrong. He supposedly beat testicular cancer with a mixture of drugs and treatment. Why didn’t the same mixture help others??? The doctors say Lance’s has different genetics…BS! I saw his 1995 announcement to the world…He stated,
“…I want you all to know that I intend to beat this disease, and further, I intend to ride again as a professional cyclist.”
That declaration to the world is what set into motion his recovery. I am not saying medicine did not help…but that element of faith was the deciding factor. In every miracle I studied someone always believed it could happen.
However, I cannot say religion is completely right. I do not like the aspect of fear they sometimes push on their flocks and making sure that “salvation” only comes through them. So I dug deeper into the quantum levels of physics to discover the last and most important discover.
There is no such thing as a mistake in this universe…everything is either at or a short distance away from achieving equilibrium. We make a change and then everything balances out again. This struck me a paganistic or oriental upon its discovery since they stress living in harmony with nature and oneself. However, there is proof that we are connected to every living and possibly non living thing on this planet.
I have always had a love for animals and especially had a gift with dogs. Everywhere I went, dogs would always approach me without fear and want to play. I scared an home owner one time back when I did AC repair, when she found me in the back yard playing with her huge Rottweiler and Doberman Pincher. She told me they were trained to attack anyone who came in the back yard without her being there. Why didn’t they attack me? Better yet, how did I get the 2 huge attack dogs on their backs and playfully rubbing their bellies? I did not know at the time, but it was my thoughts. I never had a threatening or fearful thought when I saw a dog…and the dogs knew that. The same thing was with insects. When I collected honey with my grandfather, he always said if the bees sense fear and they will sting you. Till this day, I have not been stung. Now researchers having been looking for that “fear scent” that supposedly sets animals off, but they have not found it…and I guess they never will.
To take this further, I looked at people and some things just started to jump out. What was intuition? How could you just know you could trust someone shortly after meeting them and why would you get a bad vibe from some? How did my mom know I was in trouble, sometimes before I knew it.
Well I turned my attention to babies. They were pure, not yet institutionalized with our beliefs. I saw some amazing stuff! Next time you see a baby, don’t say anything aloud…just think to yourself, “I love you, you are such a beautiful baby.” I guarantee you that baby will light up. Maybe if you’re in a store and you want to try the opposite to some else’s baby (I am in no way suggesting you do this!) you will see them start to bawl and scream. Do not try this with a baby you know since the effect might terrify the baby every time they see you. How can they tell what you are thinking? They are picking up your every thought–good and bad.
So try these things yourself and you tell me that there is no spirituality involved. It turns out you are your brothers keeper since we are connected on some invisible level.
I am sure with the new discovers in quantum mechanics this will be as obvious to us in the future as germs are obvious today. The first person that said germs were flying around in the air getting people sick they labeled crazy….now that people believe it, they see it.
