I really enjoy your feedback and welcome you to comment on articles either through the site or via the contact form. I recently received an email asking for inspiration. After writing back, I thought the same message would be beneficial to more, so I posted my response below.
Dear reader,
I appreciate you writing me. The fact that you are seeking happiness and enlightenment puts you in an entirely separate class of people. Unfortunately, many complain about their lives but never take steps to discover what life is all about. You have taken those steps and I can assure you that if you do not loose your desire to find happiness, you will indeed find it. You can never find anything, unless you seek it first.
Only you in your heart know what your deepest desires are. I have a different view on happiness and instead of asking people what makes them happy, I ask what do you struggle with. I would recommend to you to reflect on the things that make you struggle. For example, is it family, love, relationships or money? I personally believe the reason we struggle in life is mostly because in our deepest desire we want to accomplish our purpose in life.
I truly believe that most people’s purpose lies directly where they struggle. For example, if a person has difficulties in relationships, that person’s purpose may be to understand relations more than the average person. This understanding would allow this person then to go out and help others with similar problems.
So I ask you to reflect back over your life and use this advice to rethink your so-called bad experiences. Were they not, important lessons instead? All the people that have caused you pain in the past were in fact teachers and possibly your saviors. Each experience good and bad made you the unique, special person you are today. Many people have similar experiences, but no two people ever have the same combination of experiences….that is what makes you, you!
Also if you look back over you past with this perspective, you should be able to instantly forgive anyone who caused you pain. In some situations, you may now be even glad what happened, happened. As you feel the pains of the past wash away, and experience the true joys of being a unique, purposeful being on this planet, can you now look to the future with the same joy?
We actively create our worlds. Life does not happen to us…we control our life. If you believe that you are out of control, then events will happen in your life that will constantly prove that to you. However if you believe that you control your life, a new door will open that will change the very world you thought you knew. You will feel like a child learning everything for the first time. It may sound scary, but when was the last time you saw a child scared of life and learning? You will also be filled with the same joy children feel about being alive.
Lastly I ask you to be thankful, but be thankful for the little things. You should try to take at least 3 times a day where you may reflect on things that you can be thankful for. Be thankful for life, health, and most importantly be thankful for things that are not yet in your possession. If you are ill, be thankful for your health. If you are poor, be thankful for you wealth. If feel empty, be thankful for your abundant life. This exercise works on many levels. First, it builds a habit of humility and gratefulness. Second, it forces you to think optimistically.
You need to be grateful for life and all that it has to offer. Have you ever done something for someone that was not grateful for your help? I bet you never wanted to help them again. So is the same with life, if you are not grateful to the beautiful life force that flows through you and all things…do you think it will try to help you or give you more?
Lastly, optimism guides you to higher levels of existence. Life gives you exactly what you want…if you think your life is miserable and unworthy, then you will receive exactly what you wanted. Think of what your life can be…and life fills your voids. Want health, you receive health. Want wealth, and you receive wealth.
In closing, I would only ask you to bask in the glow of who you and only you are. You are very special and your purpose needs to be released on this planet. Can you think of anything on this planet that is not needed?
Take care,
Kris
